Because he is misinterpreted as hopeless. It seems that evil has won (calling what is evil good and vice versa). The pictures of the people..the girl with Cushing's died, as did the first man they show.
The black man missing a leg, known as CAL-3, lived a long time after injections...
The woman with the child (and husband) was given radioactive iron, not plutonium.
The picture with the lines isa diagram to figure out exposure to people with a radioactive berylium (i think) sphere incident.
All of those photos are from The Plutonium Files...and the information is not all the way accurate

the economy could collapse at any moment

I don't know, I can't even understand why people would use rifles when they could just use sticks, stones and suicide bombs. I guess the "dumb" tacticians somehow believe that more effective weapons can save lives and prevent warfare from even starting. Today we have upward of a dozen deaths in single battles, I'm sure there were no where near as many deaths back when spears and arrows or muskets and swords were used in combat.
