I'm quite satisfied with Rach's performance.
He is one of my good students! I'm sure sergei will become a good pianist only if he work harder.

LOL!! That's even funnier given the fact that almost no one practiced harder or more thoroughly than Rachmaninoff.

Those trills are amazing and the rubato doesn't feel dragged at all. Best recording ever. I am somehow drawn into this recording and every phrase sings. Each note is clear and alive.

and you know what, He even didn't need that much of practice..when giving more than 250 concerts a year!. once a friend gave him a scriabin note he was not aware of, he played it with masterful musicality 2 days later in his concert.

liszt's ability and technique and ability was such that he was able to sight-read one of schubert's (i think) piano concerti. rachmaninoff was incredible, but liszt! blimey, he's out of this world.

Actually it was Grieg's piano concerto but you're right, Liszt was amazing. Still, Rachmaninoff was a great pianist as well.

With today's technology they should be able to remaster and edit out the distortions - but hey, who gives a fuck about the music? Speaking of which, this is seriously delicious art from both composer and performer....

Nah I guess the music would lose a lot of overtones if you edit out the distortion. Don't know about you, but I like the noise anyway ;P

The Photoshop ... ( 4 days ago by strav12)
The Photoshop computer programme has 1.5 million different colour shades on it - but on a screen repro of, say, a Monet, people like to think they would know the difference between the original and the repro. Technology is way superiour to the human eye or ear - the editing would loose hardly any of the overtones -but like Jimi Hendrix, people automatically think they 'loose something' as if they have ears that differentiate that sharply - don't think so. And obviously, I don't like tnoise...
