so... how is a communist regime remotely capitalist or free market? It sounds like she's describing fascist mercantlism - free market ideology is actually a response *against* government/ruling class intervention in the economy. Starting a war hand out no-bid contracts to pet corporations is exactly what free market economists are opposed to. In fact I think Milton Friedman would agree that expanding markets by force is a bad thing.

And just so you know, the pole the left circles around nowadays is not Marxism, this isn't the 60s. Anarchism is the pole we dance around nowadays, Marxism is outdated and the state inherently creates another ruling class just the same as capitalism and feudalism. Marxists are frankly, irrelevant, as they contribute nothing but vague and unimportant dialectical analyses but do nothing to further the cause.

don't digest it too much. Notice the film is using the same shock therapy on you to get it's point across as it's accusing Milton Friedman of having used. Take this film very very lightly. Note it has almost zero "real" data to back it up. It's pure propaganda.

At the end of the day Friedman is just another maniacal individual, like Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Marx, and Mussolini, trying to develop a theory, philosophy, or economic structure which will justify the concentration and transfer of wealth to the few at the expense of the many. Only Friedman, to his credit is smart enough to use economic violence covertly, rather than overt physical violence such as Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Marx and Mussolini.

Klein's analysis is hopelessly flawed at virtually every level. Friedman's own words reveal him to be an advocate of peace, democracy, and individual rights. He argued that gradual economic reforms were often preferable to swift ones and that the public should be fully informed about them, the better to prepare themselves in advance. Further, Friedman condemned the Pinochet regime and opposed the war in Iraq.

Ummm. Friedman never worked for Pinochet and his comments on the Shock Doctrine are more along the lines of "When something major happens, it provides an opportunity for change" which is basically what every leader and politician, uh, ever has realized since, uh, ever. The only difference was he was talking about economic policy and not the Great People's Revolution.

fact doesn't exist, only propaganda. if fact existed, lawyers, among other worthless groups, wouldn't. look at science, none of it is fact, the ideas commonly held in science are simply the _most likely_. its like flipping a coin, just because you think it will land on heads or tails, doesn't mean it will. for research on the subject i recommend; tectonic plates, heat, gravity, and electricty. or heck try measuring gravity yourself see if you get 9.81 m/s2
