I don't think anyone really knows the real meaning of this song. (Except for Matt of course. :P) At one concert, he said it was about a black cat that he tryed to catch and befrind. At another, he said that he was looking at pianos and he saw one that was really old and it sounded pitiful. He felt sorry for it and bought it. Although, I think it's about a stuck up friend and the narrator's trying to deal with him.
