Y do you guys like Itachi so much I don't get it. The thing is Sasuke was toe to toe with Itachi without the all powerful Mangekyou sharingan which says something about Sasuke's abilities. If Sasuke had Mangekyou as well the fight would have been a bit more one sided.
Anyway I was expecting this to happen those 3 jutsus take alot of chakra Sasuke (and Orochimaru to an extent) expended his chakra he was exhausted in the end.

I think this a good time for this to happen reason being, if Madara is as strong as Itachi says he is then it would take a longer time to kill him.

i think he should be dead. there is no point to drag this on. Someone has gotta die! neither Itachi, nor Sasuke has a reason to back down or run away.. NONE! Simply wanting a character to live because they are really popular and cool can kill an anime's storyline! There has to be plot development. I'm not saying character death is development.. but Kishimoto has had this clash set up for years!! Itachi fans should be prepared for this. Jeez.. Jiraiya died.. but if itachi lives that will be lame

Itachi was already dying before he died he had a disease that he had to take plenty of medicines. When he poked Sasuke's forehead he transfered all of his eye techniques to Sasuke. Itachi coulda beaten Sasuke easily. Itachi wanted to protect Sasuke, That is the truth. Don't believe me? Read the mangas 397-401 and so on later in the weeks.
