George Harrison - Bangladesh
Uploaded by: scarface1999
Video Description:
George Harrison performing "Bangladesh" during the concert for Bangladesh at 1971, Madison Square Garden.
MAGIC!
My friend came to me, with sadness in his eyes
He told me that he wanted help
Before his country dies
Although I couldn't feel the pain, I knew I had to try
Now I'm asking all of you
To help us save some lives
Bangla Desh, Bangla Desh
Where so many people are dying fast
And it sure looks like a mess
I've never seen such distress
Now won't you lend your hand and understand
Relieve the people of Bangla Desh
Bangla Desh, Bangla Desh
Such a great disaster - I don't understand
But it sure looks like a mess
I've never known such distress
Now please don't turn away, I want to hear you say
Relieve the people of Bangla Desh
Relieve Bangla Desh
Bangla Desh, Bangla Desh
Now it may seem so far from where we all are
It's something we can't neglect
It's something I can't neglect
Now won't you give some bread to get the starving fed
We've got to relieve Bangla Desh
Relieve the people of Bangla Desh
We've got to relieve Bangla Desh
Relieve the people of Bangla Desh

To this very day these words cut deep into my soul,
George Harrison whose heart and soul brought this unknown country to the forefront of a generation is now justifiably immortalized.
Thank you Georde PEACE
Alicja
but this song "Bangla Desh" is what it was really all about.
I think George (Harrison) was the first one ever to call some guys together for a Charity Concert (!) -
(then followed by others such as Geldorf etc)
When I saw George in Chicago, someone yelled out a request for "Bangla Desh" and he got angry, made some crack the individual rather deserved.
For someone to yell out a request for "Bangla Desh" as if it were "My Guitar Gently Weeps" or most any song was trivializing a horrendous tragedy he witnessed.
That is why he became angry- at the sheer ignorance.
After George passed, Paul commented that George "suffered no fools".
That guy was worse than a fool.
Have you ever noticed the US Press barely covers India, Latin America, many third world countries.
Ma is lenne apropója a film bemutatásának...
he did a great thing for bd..
Get a few facts about India before making a lame dick statement like 'India wont arise from their 3rd World status'
India is the 4th largest economy in the World and adding 40 mn ppl to the middle class each year.Thats probably more than the popn of whichever crap nation you are from. Its already a World Leader in Technology, Space Research and has a robust democratic economy..
Maybe reading a few textbooks can give ur 3rd world brain a bit of knowledge !
