Miserere Mei Deus - Kings College Chapel Choir

Uploaded by: notyobs
Video Description:
Allegri's setting of Psalm 51. Introduced by Barry Rose, from a 1987 programme which includes Barry Rose talking to the Choir's director, Stephen Cleobury about how he trains his choristers (that will follow seperately).
I have had to edit out one verse I'm afraid to make it fit on Youtube. I took out one where the cameras spent most time gazing at the stained glass windows.

God's revelation as ... ( 1 month ago by jakodupreez)
God's revelation as a "he" has nothing to do with gender, but has everything to do with HiS authority. The Father of all creation, the King over all. The Ruler of everything.

If interested, Alvin Kimel has edited a few essential books on the theme of the Fatherhood of God and what that means and why it isn't ok, from teh historic Christain/Jewish understanding, to say God is a Mother Goddess or a She etc. There are two books, but I forget their names at the moment

I wouldn't quote Campbell as a master of religious traditions. His approach to myth is very useful, but he is very much painting with a very wide brush. He oversimplifies it to fit his scheme, useful as it is. The Eastern Orthodox approach affirms the essential mystery of God, but affirms the knowability in Christ. Read Vladimir Lossky's "Mystical Theology" Chapter one, then reread Campbell.

One of my all-time favourite compositions. No matter how many hundreds of times I hear it, it still sounds as angelically beautiful and mystical as the first time. So many powerful mediaeval scenes are suddenly imagined.

This really is a totally stunning performance by the King's choir. This is the most definitive version you can achieve of this beautiful piece of music. And performed in the unparalled splendour of King's College Chapel, the finest architectural entity in the world.

What more evidence could one possibly need to know their is a God? If not a divine creation then most definitely divinely inspired. Unquestionably inspirational.

De toute beauté. Merci à Mozart d'avoir retranscrit cette superbe musique et ces voix déchirantes. Comme lui Allegri me topuche profondément et transperce corps et âme. L'interprétation est toute en finesse ainsi que la vidéo. Merci.

this is so awsome. i got addicted to it when i was 7. my friends are still totally wtf.
im agnostic, but this is the only thing that has ever gotten me remotely close to god.
the irony is that this is also the theme of the game Bible Fight, which is, by the way, awsome too.
