A more natural way of simulating crowds could mean more realistic computer games and special effects. Researchers at the University of Washington have produced this video showing a realistic simulation of crowd movement.

Wow. Best video I've seen in months. The city model could theoretically be used to simulate reactions to disasters (e.g fire, flood etc) and help to find ways to limit the resulting chaos.
