the good news is, they are very much alive. this event caused so much international media attention that the Chinese had no choice but to let them go or else risk this problem of being in international spotlight. This family was safely taken to South Korea where they live now.

I totally support free immigration. It is a very important aspect of human rights. If a N.Korean hopes to go to S.Korea, they should be permitted. Similarly, if every one hopes to immigrate to S.Korea or US or European countries, they should be permitted.
If your country does not freely open the border to the other civilians, if your country still has a term called illegal immigrants, shut up your mouth please!

The real tragedy will be if after North Korea collapses or opens, the South Koreans try to block the international community from doing what is right by bringing all of the human rights violators in North Korea into a globally watched international trial.
