stevie ray vaughan are also a great guitar player and yeah he is close cause he was also a singer and a songwriter like hendrix and clapton. sure richards and slash also write songs but they dont do more on stage than playing the guitar. hendrix, clapton and vaughan are/was also singers. so yeah vaughan comes close. but my opinion just gives the edge to hendrix and clapton but hey everybody got an opinion right ;)

It still annoys me that everyone thinks layla is claptons best song. obviously everyone has thier favourites, but Layla was his shot at the singles charts, nothing more. It's not the heart that is in this tune for example.
