of course, if you broke your leg and you are an illegal alien from mexico with no money or insurance, they would have treated you right away for free with a smile. illegal aliens have destroyed the health-care system in america, and it's only going to get worse as long as they're here.

ToiletLog,
You not only are a racist, but ignorant as well. Europe, Canada & Australia treat anyone, including American tourists. I know, I've been treated.
The problem with our system is corruption and profiteering by insurance & drug companies. But your racism and hatred blind you. You are being ripped off by the corporations.
Truly you should be more generous and Christian towards people regardless of their color, wealth or immigration status.
PS, I am a white male.
If we refuse ... ( 8 months ago by bthespoon)
If we refuse treatment, we end up paying more because untreated people end up sicker. Untreated people walk around spreading germs. Finally, one of the untreated might be taking up your spot in the ER just when you need it most with their darned preventable but all-too-real emergencies. I can tell you don't give a crap about anyone else, but obviously you do care about yourself.
so corruption/ ... ( 8 months ago by TOILETLOG)
so corruption/profits are the reasons many hospitals are closing around the country, eh digitalcurry?
corruption/profits were around 50 years ago, hospitals didn't close from it. hospitals are closing today from millions of illegal aliens living here and leaching off the system who expect and receive free treatment.
go to an emergency room in NYC, LA, chicago, etc. and tell me who you see seeking free treatment. here's a clue: 99% will be speaking spanish. welcome to reality dumbass.
You don't get ... ( 8 months ago by L571J)
You don't get diabetes from infection. Though infection may have unmasked the condition, it would eventually have presented itself. Do you even know what diabetes is? I have spent plenty of time studying medicine and assure you that infection does not cause diabetes.
The point of all of ... ( 8 months ago by L571J)
The point of all of this is that no person should be financially responsible for any other person, which is exactly what universal care would be. I have seen enough medicine to know that very few people are denied care they need. Most of the "free care" provided in this country goes to the same people who use welfare, have no jobs, and spend their time reproducing rather than looking for gainful employment. Normal, hard-working people pay for these "victims" you are all so keen on insuring.
Most of the care-- ... ( 8 months ago by DrDon5)
Most of the care--free or not--goes to old people in the last two years of life whether they have been rich or poor, employed or slacking, fat or fit. You pay taxes for things that everyone uses, regardless of circumstances--roads, police, fire, sanitation, courts, parks, schools, libraries, and much more. It makes sense to pay less for healthcare that you will inevitably use, too. Sharing the risk and pooling resources is the only way to mitigate healthcare costs.

Should every breath you take cost you money?
Should every step you take on a side walk cost you money?
Should we shut down all the public schools?
Should we eliminate the public police and revert to private security services like Blackwater to patrol our streets and to "solve" crimes?
Should we simply ... ( 7 months ago by nilent)
Should we simply shut down all government/public sector operations in favor of an all out dog eat dog society in which the guys with the biggest guns kill everyone else?
We're all in the same boat. Whether you like it or not; you're just a human being...not a self contained "god" living in a "self" contained "you"niverse.

well if these ilegal alliens became legal then they will pay taxas ( there are far more young pople who are ilegal) and help the system dont you think you racist scum? did you believe in god?
hey digitalcurry, ... ( 7 months ago by TOILETLOG)
hey digitalcurry, since truth is not on your side, only emotions, it's not surprising you come in with the race card comments.
lesson #1 to all you amateur debaters out there: if you bring up race as the central issue in your argument or comeback to somebody's comments, you have nothing credible to say and "wrong" is on your side.
all you idiots fail, but that's not really surprising, is it?
Obviously because ... ( 6 months ago by maddoxfanx)
Obviously because your one view of how many people get the care you need is the correct one that reflects the entire country. If your money going to those damn lazy welfare recipients is your biggest concern with a Single Payer System, then I sure as hell hope you aren't using the US Postal Service anytime soon.

digitalcurry, I was over staying my student visa in the UK, when I had to be treated for a bee sting. I tired to pay them, but they just laughed at me. I am a well educated, wealthy, white female I am for universal health care. sale off your health care stock, a new wind is coming.

Hey JaneJane47, why ... ( 3 months ago by digitalnow)
Hey JaneJane47, why not mention that corporations are using poision in plastics that are found in all water bottles, and canned food, and that pollution is being pumped out into the air, soil, and water. not like that makes anyone sick. and why not say something about corporations to market cradle to grave on fast food, sodas, and cigs?
dear sitdonw248, ... ( 3 months ago by digitalnow)
dear sitdonw248, your kidding right? no one can be that stupid, so your just kidding, right? Okay, sitdown248, if you are not kidding, about people living without health care, and lazy people not being worthy of health care, then you need to turn off the hate media, turn off the corporate speaker on the Fox news show who is being paid to be there by the health insurance company. Get a book on logic, and start thinking.
digitalnow, I ... ( 3 months ago by sitdown248)
digitalnow, I suggest you check your logic. Tell me, when you go into a store, do you go around take a bunch of stuff and just say "i need it"? No, that would be called stealing, but why do we support people who want to do it with healthcare. Remember, free healthcare isn't free, it's only free to those that DON'T pay taxes!
you are comparing ... ( 3 months ago by digitalnow)
you are comparing shopping for goods to public education of our nations children? oh, wait, you are talking about health care. Did you go to public schools, sitdown248? I guess I paid for it then. I wish I could stop you from using the side walks, the parks, and the roads too, as you feel that no one should be paying for anything someone else will use. The whole point to all this is lost to you, because you just don't want to see the truth. You too will get sick, and you may not get care
Tell me, when did I ... ( 3 months ago by sitdown248)
Tell me, when did I ever say I supported public education? I would love to get rid of this government sham, but obviously it will never happen. What is the responsiblity of a government? To protect citizens' rights. Healthcare and education are not rights. Things like the fire department, police, military, and transportation (i.e. roads) are rights. These are things the government should provide, however, why should the government force me to pay for someone else's healthcare?
what is interesting ... ( 1 month ago by NoticeOfDefault)
what is interesting I have seen people of other countries come to America just to get medical care. I mean their sole purpose is to come get treated and go home. But Americans themselves do not know how to work the system???
Without government, ... ( 1 month ago by nilent)
Without government, you would probably be dead right now....or you would be a slave to the local warlord. (Or maybe you would BE the local warlord....until someone more ruthless knocked you off)
If you want to live in a land where pure unfettered capitalism.materialism is king, you should move to China.
There are things in life far more important than the "profit" motive.
When have I stated ... ( 1 month ago by sitdown248)
When have I stated that government wasn't necessary? However, we should try to keep it as small as possible, because we all know anything the government touchs immediately turns to crap. China is run under communism my friend. Profit runs the economy. There are more important things, but not in business
Array ( 1 month ago by nilent)
pt 2
The existing health care system is driven by pure greed and profit....there are perverse incentives to even keep people sick! lol
Unless you're willing to simply let the poor all die in the streets...we already have universal "coverage" but it's at the tail end of life when the poor are at deaths door and the system will spend millions on ICU etc that fails or ends up becoming ongoing chronic expensive etc.
Meanwhile humans suffer and even more money is wasted.
It's cheaper to be good!
