im sure most of the fans could if they are trained in it like the umpires. fans heckle players for messing up relatively easy plays sometimes, but they are saying they could be a professional player they are just angry that they cant do someething that should be easy for them.

People who think umpiring is easy need to sit in behind a catcher and watch a ball coming at you at 80+ mph and try not to bail out, let alone flinch. Not make a call, just sit there. It's not as easy as it looks.

He is not a jerk! He is teaching this "rookie umpire" a lesson. He is being EXTREMELY nice compared to what coaches, players and fans will yell at him if he made the same mistakes in a game. His "yelling" at him is to get him ready for that. Jim Evans is one of the best. MLB would not let him operate a pro umpire training school if that were not the case.

Yeah. I can't believe they let Rob fill in for so many games. He's such a horrible umpire. I guy makes his calls way to early and doesn't give them a chance to develop.
