Misha is too masculine for this role, he is too hot, definitly not his bes role...

The law of gravity doesn't seem to apply to him. How can he hang up like that in the air? Is it the video?

it's extremely difficult to perform this role without being affeminate. Baryshnikov succeded 100%
Completely agree ... ( 8 months ago by yajunwindbell)
Completely agree with those who consider Legris and Nureyev better. I love Misha and yes he is a ballet genius. His jumps are effortless, but I don't see him suitable for the style. IMHO he doesn't succeed in performing the role convincingly. Legris is the best though without the high jumps. Agreed.

This is a fine piece.

LOVELY! Please do nto mention htose hacks inthe same breath as Misha. at least do him the honor of emntioning the only other dancer to ever come close Fukagowa. The two you mention lacked any real technique by comparison. Please!! I have to wonder how many of you have any dance training. If you had any real training or talent you would knwo the diffenrence between proficience and mastery!!

I'll bet if Pushkin had been asked would in confidence he would have counted Misha as his finest student..The best ever to be taught at that school!!

I have real training, and talent but not you or anyone here in you tube is going to tell me what I like or not.
I like what I feel. and is really stupid to talk about tecnique in the stars of ballet, they are there because they are great, now a different matter is who touch your soul, because that is ballet. Otherwise go to the Cirque du soleil, the do so much tricks...
Spare me. I will ... ( 6 months ago by preciousbash)
Spare me. I will post a video response for you. I doubt you have any real talent . I
will do you the honor of showing you the a true demonstaration of both mastery and proficience. I dance and choreograph for kicks. Do me a favor and post a response yourself so I can have a good laugh. Misha is the best. I subscribe to his ideals and talent. The video I post will be of me. You are no great dancer. I can tell because you are inspired by mediocratey. Tricks are not impressive. All dogs know some!
He was vain and ... ( 6 months ago by preciousbash)
He was vain and little else. He would have been great if he had more control and better jumps! He seemed far to self aware and not in good way. I understnd to you and many others he seems amazing. To me Misha and Fukagawa have beauty, style, grace, mastery, explosive power which they had complete control of,and a charm that he lacked. sorry. If a dog can stand on it's hind legs and hop it's new but if a dog can stand on it's hind legs and dance the waltz then it's impressive. Call me
when he waltzs

No, he is the best. If you are in NY he still perfroms some times and is still a wonderful dancer at 60! BRVA MISHA. Check out the calender for his dance center located on 37th!

Preciousbash, you are really annoying me.You really seem unable to respect dancers, you tell me I am inspired by mediocrity? Who are you?Nijinski????Eh??WHO? anyway I don´t care.Misha is my favourite dancer FYI, so see how inspired by mediocrity I am... just like you

Sorry but I think you two BOTH are right, both ways of thinking are fair enough. What's more important, big great jumps and tecnique or feeling ballet? I think both.
There are few ... ( 6 months ago by anniemihn)
There are few things left in the world that could be compared to the pleasure of watching Misha dance. Even when he is not in his best role, as we feel it´s the case here, still he is the master, the genius, the poetry we have lost in the last shameleslly greedy, cinic and unhappy years. I will miss him forever.

i know this might seem dumb, but which ballet is it from and who composed?
The name of the ... ( 6 months ago by mbcestmoi)
The name of the ballet is "Le Spectre de la Rose." It was first performed in 1911; the choreographer is Michel Fokine and the music is composed by Carl von Weber. Although many of the great dancers of the 20th century have performed "Le Spectre" (Nureyev, Baryshnikov, etc.), this very short ballet was made famous by the man who first performed the role, Vaslav Nijinsky. Nijinsky is a fascinating character; after becoming the greatest dancer in the world, mental illness cut his career short.

Thank you for sharing this!! I first saw him as a child in the "Nutcracker" with Gelsey Kirkland at Christmas on television. And I of course went to see his film "White Nights".
I envy his leaps. Breathtaking. He floats them with ease.
I completely agree ... ( 2 months ago by Andante735)
I completely agree with you. However, please don't confuse a role that's stylistically inappropriate for one dancer, for a lack of technique. Nureyev was a tremendously talented artist; one of the greatest dancers of our time, and he virtually opened the door for male dancers to be what they are today. Personally, I think Misha is pure perfection in this role (among most others) and it's the closest we've seen to Nijinsky. I love the fact that they're both so different in almost every way.
I believe the ... ( 2 months ago by Andante735)
I believe the proper phrase would be senstively potrayed masculinity. If anything, it's a role that's really gender neutral. If you're implying there's a strong femininity, that would make sense, but I don't think you're capable of thinking that expansively. Basically you're an asshole, and have no business commenting on anything more than Britney Spear's latest meltdown.
