How is wanting ... ( 7 months ago by Listman11)
How is wanting money to stay in their insurance plan (so that it will be available for other claims) greed?
If they are greedy in other aspects then you can attack them.
How is cheaper goods not good for the "rest of us"?
Hey Dex, several ... ( 7 months ago by Listman11)
Hey Dex, several things.
1. Please do not confuse sales with profits. They had 98 billion in sales. The profits were much lower. Please get educated before you comment on such things.
2. Healthcare is not free in Canada. It is hidden. Also, the service is shit in Canada. I should know, I am Canadian and my mother is currently in the system.
3. The insurance ... ( 7 months ago by Listman11)
3. The insurance plan is a different company. It has nothing to do with Walmart. It is an insurance company set up by Walmart. They can't just take money out of sales and put it into that company.
Man, there are pople with no clue about how these things work yet they will comment. It makes you all look foolish.

Ok Dex, mu last response.
1. What gives Walmart the right is the agreement that the lady signed. And the money is coming right out of others who do not win judgements against the trucking companies.
2. In Canada, if you win a settlement, you don't just get to keep the money. The settlement is based upon cost of the care. The government will take that money out of what they provide.

"how is cheaper goods not good for the rest of us"
well for one it makes it virtually impossible for Canadians to earn a decent wage in manufacturing sector, as their product must compete with products made by use of slave labour.
did i say ... ( 7 months ago by dexterriley)
did i say healthcare was free? we pay thru higher taxes, but if the accident happened here, there wouldnt have been a 400 grand price tag for her to pay.
What about the ... ( 7 months ago by Listman11)
What about the benefit to the consumer? There are a lot more consumers than there are manufacturing jobs. Why should the Canadian consumer subsidize overpaying Canadian manufactruing workers?
Just look at the problems our auto industry is having. We are being killed because of our costs.
Yeah but Dex, she ... ( 7 months ago by Listman11)
Yeah but Dex, she is not paying for that. Her insurance company is paying and now the trucking company is paying. She is not paying for that. But here is where you look foolish. The trucking companys insurance pays. The trucking company must pay premiums. The premiums are passed to the consumber. When the insurance company pays, they increase premiums.
The end loser is the consumer again. Remember, shei signed the agreement and knew the rules going in. You cannot change them now.

Hey dex, please see ... ( 7 months ago by Listman11)
Hey dex, please see the husband's interview of CNN. The lady asked if he knew about the clause and the husband answers "we kind of knew". This indicates to me that he knew.
Also, before they sued the trucking company, why did the lawyer not read the agreement and tell them?
Also, do not give silly examples. It does nothing to further your point.

The lady's ... ( 7 months ago by Kevbox2008)
The lady's settlement from the accident has to covered her medical expenses and NOT her employer. This being the case, Wal*Mart isn't obligated to pay her bills. However, they have the OPTION and NOT the OBLIGATION to recoup their "loss". So, W*M SHOULD (if they're ethical) write off the loss and let the lady keep the money instead of opting to recoup the funds because at $90B per year, they'll make their money back in two days. Bottomline: Boycott Wal-Mart & kick the lawyer in the nuts!!!
Debbie Shank, a 52- ... ( 7 months ago by Silberdachs)
Debbie Shank, a 52-year old former Wal-Mart employee (& mother of a soldier killed in Iraq) who suffered serious brain damage after getting hit by a truck was subsequently sued by Wal-Mart to recover $470k in medical expenses. Shank had won a substantial settlement from the trucking company &, after legal fees, took home $417k. Only thanks to Keith Olbermann's "World's Worst" expose of Wal-Mart's vile behavior were they shamed into dropping the case. They're corporate scumbags of the worst kind.

No disrespect meant Dex, I should have made it clear in my reply that it's guys like you who are spreading the kind of message (principally to the US) that will help save that deeply troubled nation. It's in nobody's best interests for the US to collapse. One way or another, we're all tied financially to that sinking ship. The extent of their financial troubles cannot be overstated. Check out this YouTube vid for a truthful, non-partizan appraisal of the situation:

Every time we make ... ( 2 months ago by thoughtfulguy)
Every time we make a purchase at Walmart, we pump money out of our own communities. The only money that stays in our community is in the form of the pathetic wages Walmart pays its employees, and the taxes those employees pay. The rest goes into Walmart's corporate pocketbook. Not only does Walmart exploit developing countries, and the cheap and inhumane labor obtained there, they exploit all of us, collectively, as American Citizens.
The majority of ... ( 2 months ago by thoughtfulguy)
The majority of Walmart's full-time employees are receiving public assistance. Thus, our tax dollars are being used to subsidize Walmart's ruthless greed. We may save a little bit of money when we shop at Walmart, but the cost to all of us as Americans is far greater.

The best sticker I've ever seen stated "WalMart SUCKS" in big letters up top, then below "The life out of your town"
