The great thing about this show is that it's not only about cuisines but you can learn so much about the cultures. This show is surely a winner.

this is a gross misrepresentation of my culture. im from malaysia and this phony, bourdain, has made numerous inaccurate depictions of my beautiful country. he mixed the races up (analogoous to calling a korean a japanese), overemphasised east malaysian iban culture disproportionately to the other major cultures of multicultural malaysia, totally missed out on the major cuisines which we malaysians r famous for, and very inacurrately desribed the entymology of the foods he ate there.

You may start your own program of "accurate spelling" and "finding chinese, indian, maybe greek, etymology of malaysian food".

i love anthony bourdain and his humour. i'm from malaysia and i really enjoyed this show. though this show is more based on east malaysian culture. malaysia is really diverse and we have cuisines of all sorts here. we have malay, chinese, indian, mamak (indian muslim), baba nyonya (chinese but they live malay cultures) and many many more. and out of each race, you have sub-race and subculture foods.

No negatives can come of this show for you though...maybe he made a couple errors. Would you rather him have not at least given us a peek at your culture?

my gripes are that he missed out the major cuisines which malaysians are famous for. I can assure you, most Malaysians never tasted (or perhaps even want to taste) the penis soup. It's good that Bourdain (love him!) gave us a peek on Malaysian culture & heritage etc., but would be even better if our prided cuisine can make some appearance too, and give justice to why we Malaysians are very, very passionate about our food. But overall, I love him & his shows

It's impossible to pack an entire culture into a one hour show. I think he did a nice job here.

relax. It's not meant to be a comprehensive representation, just an entertaining perspective of A FEW aspects of Malaysia. He's not discrediting the country's diversity, it's just impossible to cover a full country in a one hour program. Moreover, it's a show for ignorant Americans like myself who don't know any better. Even with that in mind I think he portrays each place he visits with the respect it deserves.
