the truth is, some gold farmers DO use bots, and ethical issues don't even come in to it, bots are easy to detect, and so it's simply easier to pay somebody to play the game, and farm, than it is to fund new accounts / subscriptions for the games.
logically, buying gold from the people that farm them is a much better use of your own time than farming yourself (1 hour working in mcdonalds will earn you more than 8 hours of gold farming).

I personally work with these "virtual goods" companies, I speak English and Chinese at a near-native level, and yeah, there ARE some bad apples, companies that are SO poor, they don't CARE about people getting banned once the transaction is complete, they don't care so long as they get their money, but there are some companies (like the one I work with) that put safety and security above all, and as of yet, not a single customer or farming account has been banned.
