Wonderful expression- it's the best I've ever heard on this piece. Something is different about the tone, but it's a quality French music SHOULD have. For this aria, I really like it.
I've noticed with many singers, the neutral vowel is more of an "eh" sound- like the E in Italian- than an "euh" sound, which is what it should be in French- I hear that in this performance as well. He scoops into notes more than I prefer, but it's not bad at all. Overall, an outstanding performance.
