I've yet to hear so much as a single success story of long-term antidepressant use. I can't believe the pharmaceutical industry continues to poison millions of people with these drugs despite the obvious fact that these people's lives are being ruined. Ultimately, anti-depressants are nothing but a way for Big Pharma to scam people out of their money and their sense of well-being. People need to wake up, realize that they're being cheated and lied to, and boycott these selfish drug companies.

The whole point here, is that the doctors didn't tell us there were ANY side effects (other than weight gain) or withdrawal problems with the drug. So there was no way for us to know it was something we could or could not 'handle.'

I wanted to quit because I kept having to raise my dose every few years to avoid the zaps. Each raised dose was another 20lbs. Total weight gain got up to 50lbs! Plus the lowered libido side effect..ugh.

How much of this drug are they taking ? what 10 mg ,20 ,40 ? why didn't these people feel something bad is happening & go to there doctor informing him/her about what is going on ? from what all these people are saying ,I believe the company is responsable for with holding information ,but on the other side ,how can a doctor give these pills to people when they know this stuff is bad don't they feel guilty for doing such things ?

It's unbelievable what the pharmaceutical industry is doing at present. Trust that none of these doctors know enough about your individual brain chemistry to prescribe one of three or four chemicals tested on rats and monkeys. These chemicals were proven addictive before they were prescribed to you, and what better way to make money than to convince patients to become dependant on expensive pills? Just like taking diet pills instead of dieting, taking pills instead of therapy is harming you.

My Paxil side effects include severe melancholy, zaps in my head and up my arm, and increased spontaneous behavior. I'm only on 20 mg.
The good doctor prescribed this after ONE visit. That has become a red flag for me now.

Ok. WOW. It's 3am, I just woke up from some of the worst nightmares I've ever experienced. I suffered a TBI almost 6 years ago. I was never aware of all the side effects this drug caused. I had told my doctor before that I felt very anxious, hostile, angry, etc and sometimes depressed since I had been on PAXIL. He said to STAY on it and that it was helping me. He lied!
6 years to realize the cause of my problems is all from PAXIL!
PLEASE. STAY AWAY FROM PAXIL!

This is absolutely appalling. My boyfriend is currently going through withdrawal (40mg daily), meaning that I've been having to deal with his constant hostility, depression, uncontrollable verbal abuse, and PSYCHOSIS. No exaggeration. He has never benefitted from Paxil, but what's worse: this or continuing to take a drug that did nothing for him to begin with? Can we make it through another 2+ weeks of this torture?

2+ weeks? The torture lasts a LOT longer than six months for many of us. I tried tapering off it over a full year in 2002 and ended up back on it, just so I could feel sane again. Hang in there!

You've got to be kidding me. My boyfriend didn't taper very slowly because he ran out of medical insurance (thanks again, America). It doesn't seem to matter if he tapers or not, though. Each time he's tried to quit it's the same torture. I pray to God that it doesn't last months or years. That's not a sustainable way to live, but neither is continuing to take this drug, IMO. Is it even possible to get off of this drug and start living a normal life again? It has to be...
