Tesla plans to have ... ( 1 month ago by hasatum)
Tesla plans to have more affordable models out by the time the Volt is out. As they say in the interview, part of the point of releasing these high-end vehicles is to pay for production of the lower-end models. I'm all for competition and diversity in the marketplace, so we should welcome the emergence of a new, innovative company that is helping to spur the reinvigoration of the old standys.
We need to remember ... ( 1 month ago by nazariali)
We need to remember a few things..where does the "power" to produce it physically (both components and energy)come from? Also the electricity to run them mostly are provided by oil/gas powerplants...Electrical cars are a step in the right dirction, but it is just a step, not a solution...Oil is and will be extremly important..just remember that for every single calorie of food we eat, 10 calories of oil is used! By the way I love this car..Have a nice day/night where ever you are on OUR planet..

Car companies make ... ( 1 month ago by murtumaton)
Car companies make much more profit by selling spare parts. Electric cars have less moving parts and thus less profitable.

Most electricity is ... ( 1 month ago by shep12002)
Most electricity is wasted at night time (the time most people charge their cars) when use is down but production still continues so this electricity is still being produced whether its used or not. also comparatively most cars are less efficient over all than power plants.

I don't think I will ever buy anything from GM after what they did with their 1st electric car.

tenrazo215 While they did pull that car I'd Give GM a chance as they do have some nice stuff, the GM Chevy Volt is a good start and should be encouraged I think :)

nazariali The thing is if one lives say in the desert south west US one could set up a solar array charge unit, after initial cost the energy is free and not from fossil fuel
Karma is a bitch ... ( 1 month ago by UGOTDAJACK)
Karma is a bitch and it is this same reason why GM is now going bankrupt. The only reason GM has created the volt is due to unseen pressure by the Japanesse. Sorry starview but I'm going to have to agree with tenrazo215, Fuck GM!
UGOTDAJACK Every ... ( 1 month ago by starview1)
UGOTDAJACK Every company has its ups and downs
as was true of many of shore firms years ago, and still is true today within model lines. GM is on an up swing as customer satisfaction and GM quality in many cases surpasses much of the compitition, so it would be unreasonable to fault GM as it appears that GM is solving issues and turning out some nice stuff Ford also is turning out some very nice product, the Ford Fussion stuff as an example The QC has significantly improved and that's expected

What parts are you taking about? I own a junk yard, The parts business is profitable but not like you think. Do some checking at your local junk yard and talk to the owners. Godspeed Paul
volt is worse in ... ( 4 weeks ago by shakaama)
volt is worse in many ways than the ev1. it has 1/3 the driving range on a charge. i just don't get how you could go backwards in technology. it shows a complete lack of commitment. they must seriously be in the pocket of big oil or even threatened by big oil on some point. how could exxon have a 30 billion profit quarter and gm have the worst quarter in their history?
he meant after ... ( 4 weeks ago by shakaama)
he meant after market parts and useable periferals: belts; filters; etc, not car doors or tail pipes.
i want to form an ... ( 4 weeks ago by shakaama)
i want to form an electric car consortium: to form a lobby; to marry them with battery manufacturers; to form direct demand on solar and other periferal subsytems.
how could i do this?

Welp, GM just ... ( 3 weeks ago by erh7771)
Welp, GM just screwed the pooch on the Volt making it a lease...for WHAT?!?!
So the can do the same DAMN THING they did with the EV1; sell the technology for money.
They're also selling the car for 40,000 dollars......just stupid
When you buy an ... ( 3 weeks ago by fuhmeregan)
When you buy an electric car you do this: 1. you 'build and bring to market what you were already driving' (you sell what you have for continuing use [you'd have to scrap it, literally scrap, for this not to be true; it WILL go on running]), 2. you incurr the pollution of the making of the steel, the assembly, the parts, plastic, copper, lithium, lead nickle etc. of the second car you're now adding to your previous carbon footprint. New car does not "0-emitt" - nuclear or oilgas for the charging

Tesla ran his ... ( 2 weeks ago by LkOutMtnMan)
Tesla ran his Pierce Arrow on electric energy from the air with 12 cold diode tubes mounted in the dash! There were no batteries other than a small one for the lights/instruments! The car easily ran 80mph with unlimited free electric energy! JP Morgan wouldn't agree to produce , said he couldn't make money off of it!

Ta hell with gas, ... ( 1 week ago by ProbableHypothesis)
Ta hell with gas, get these electric cars/trucks rolling now. In the old days you'd pull in to a gas station and say "fill er up". Now you pull in and they open their cash register and say "fill er up". LOL
Plug me in please!
