Group B rules dictate Audi had to build 200 Sport Quattros, the S1 is an evolution of those original 200. They tuned them to death, 500 to 600 bhp not uncommon at Worl events. Hair still stands on end now.

the sport quattro that was sold to the public @ £55,000 back in 1983 had 306bhp, i have driven one of these and it makes my sti look like a kindergarten toy. The are very comfortable car to drive too, so Audi did well back then.

It may not be entirely stupid on my part - I realise that rally drivers' feet are dancing all the time, and maybe it's just that Group B cars are so much louder - but I bet driving a Grup B car demanded a hell of a light right foot
