Oh no ! I'm not shocked - being in fact as much flegmatic as a Londoner. If you live in Athens nothing, AND I MEAN NOTHING can shock you !!!
Chinese have invent so many things. I don't expect that Greece was the only country that held public games of such kind. According to our history/Mythology Hercules ( the mythical hero - not Xena's the Princess warrior's friend, mind you...) established the Olympic Games to honour Zeus, so it actually goes before 776 BC back in early prehistory.

And the communication between West and East (China) my friend, first was succed during the middle Byzantine ages. That's right - after Christ....
Long AFTER the last Olympic game were held. So it's not possible that the very same games were transported....

I see that we couldn't compare between athens 2004 & beijing 2008 it's n't fair cause each one has different style & each has its own culture,history & language but we could prefere one more than other but the parade of nations which is common in beijing was very boring while in athens was amazing

I could watch this over and over again without getting bored.I get goosebumps everytime I hear the declaration OLYMPIC GAMES-WELCOME BACK TO GREECE!It does not matter to me anymore that Athens was the "poorest" olympic city. What matters is that they were able to stage a successful games without too much pretensions-an attitude that characterizes recent olympic games...This opening ceremonies exudes an aura of elegance and effortless pride...Greetings to our Greek friends from the Philippines!
