"Hippie" had more to do with a state of mind than hair length or colorful garb. There were hippies fighting in Vietnam sporting short hair, wearing drab o.d. green jungle fatigues - and smoking grass while listening to The Grass Roots!

just because they are not dressed in tye dye or headbands doesn't mean they are not hippies.
TRUST me, I know plenty of ppl who THINK they are hippies, and wear peace signs, but they have done NOTHING for their community or enviroment and dont care about it.

As far as the R& R hall, it just does not mater. That sadly off track place, misses groups like THE ASSOCIATION and THE GRASS ROOTS, but adores much lesser talents...How about a life time GRAMMY award for the above mentioned groups? Now that would be fair! Rob Grill, Terry Kirkman...both STUNNING TALENTS, from 2 super groups!

I agree, both The Grass Roots and The Associations are great bands and should be recognized by the R&R Hall. The R&R Hall seems to be too political and if anyone knows a way to get these two bands in - let us know.

R&R Hall is a "for profit" company. Like the stars on the side walk, you must PAY to get your name on the ballad and voted in. Gene Simmons (KISS) refused to make the "Donation" neccesary to be considered, hence KISS will never be in the Hall. "I let my music speak for itself. We (KISS) don't need a plaque or memorial to be famous", he said....

The R&R Hall of SHAME!! The thing is a sham..explain to me how Percy Sledge, Grandmaster Flash,Wilson Pickett and The Ramones are IN, but CHICAGO, GRASS ROOTS, THREE DOG NIGHT, THE ASSOCIATION are NOT IN!
This says it all ..what a fraud. They say TDN and GRASS Roots didn't write their songs but wait a minute..that did not stop the Tempations, Four Tops, or Supremes, did it??!!
