Video Description:
Playback version of GV, 1980. The Beach Boys performed regular at this show. In '79 they performed "Sumahama" and "Lady Lynda", in 1980 "California Girls", "Good Vibrations" and "Surfin' USA" and in 1981 , without Carl, "Beach Boys Medley". They did always playback. The '79 and '81 performances are already posted on youtube, so here is a cut from the 1980 performance, I guess december.

Oh my gosh they're lip syncing! That sounds just like the album track. Cause I have seen them live from around this time and they didn't sound anything like this. I don't think they were that great live at this time.

Yup, the BB were a studio band...not that great live...there's a CD of studio mixes that will give you an ideal how they sound unmixed. However, Brian was a true genius, and his brothers and cousin great vocalists. I'm a huge fan as well.

Actually, no it isn't lip sync'd. I advise you to go watch the other performances of this song. They al sounds the same, but you can tell it is nothing like lip sync

If "true talent" wanted to appear on American Bandstand, they lip-synced. As far as I know, the only artist who appeared on the show without lip-syncing was B.B. King.
The Beach Boys played live on television many times during the 60s. Programs include "Ed Sullivan" and the "Andy Williams Show." They sounded good to me.

Not lip-synched? C'mon. Who's banging the tambourine in the track? I can tell you it's not the drummer. And I suppose it's remarkable how they fit all the keyboard tracks in there without the aid of A REAL PLAYER!! No ProTools backing tracks then!!! Don't get me wrong, I love the Beach Boys, but this ain't live.
