Re: Open Letter to Rep. Monique Davis

Honorable councilwoman,
I am a retired Veteran of the United States Navy, where I defended the US constitution, and the people protected by said constitution. That means the practice of your religion, my belief system, and yes, even the right to not practice religion at all is covered under that blanket statement.
In light of recent events regarding a grant given to a Baptist church in the sum of $1,000,000 by governor of the state of Illinois. It has come to the attention of people across the nation that you have made inflammatory remarks toward a person of a different belief system than that of your own.
During Mr. Sherman's testimony that Wednesday, when you interrupted him, you made bold statements that were clearly untrue in regards to the LAW.
The First Amendment of the constitution of the United States clearly says that no law shall be passed with repect to religion, or the free excercise thereof. The fourteenth amendment makes that law applicable by all states in the union. In the Treaty of Tripoli, Thomas Jefferson stated that the US is in no way founded on the Christian Religion.
I find it astonishing that a representative of a state government agency would conduct herself in such a manner. Attempting to remove a lawful citizen from his right to address the government in a legal setting, is illegal, and it is ethically repugnant, regardless of his theistic conviction.
Thomas Jefferson, who is the primary author of the constitution of the United States was clearly a deist or atheist. Tomas Payne, who is another major player in the founding of this country was also a Deist. John Adams, William Taft, and even Susan B. Anthony were deist of atheist.
And Even your mention of Abraham Lincoln' s inflection was erroneous, in that Lincoln himself stated:
"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."
The founding fathers of this country made great efforts that religion would never have a foothold in the door of our political process.
Mr. Sherman had the right to speak, and every right to be there. Just because he was not actively fighting guns in school to be removed, held absolutely no bearing on his belief on the subject matter. The perjorative speech you gave is now on record, and you are now going to be known as a person who is just as guilty of racial/religious bias as the Ku Klux Klan did on the last 2 centuries.
Your clearly bigoted, and discriminatory agenda warrants impeachment, and I fervently hope that you are at the very least centured for your actions of that day.

Unfotunately, I already sent it to her, and probably look like an idiot now
Great letter though. Five stars eh.
It's so beautifully written, it must have been inspired by the hand of god!
