I learned a bit Greek in Greece (Ioannina) and as far as a I know the phrases taught here ignore all the complex grammatical rules. When you say "Goodbye" to more than one person you don't say "Ya sas".

Well I spent spring 2006 in Ioannina studying Greek language and modern Greek history in the University of Ioannia. It was fun. And I have to say Greek is a very difficult language to learn. The grammatical rules are so precise even numbers have genders. And my name is Yiu.

It is much easier ... ( 3 months ago by KostaA1982)
It is much easier to you Geia Sou for Hello. Geia Sou is like Shalom it can be used as Hello AND Goodbye. Geia Sas is formal and Xerete is hardly used anymore. Ti kanis can be used for "How are you?" Pos se lene is a more casual way of saying Pos onomazeste. Finally, pou einai to meros is "where is the bathroom." Banio actually means BATH.

dear cavter, when somebody tells you "thank you" you say "you are welcome"!right?in Greek now when they say"ευχαριστώ"("thank you")we say "παρακαλώ"("you are welcome").at the other hand though, when you want to ask for somebody for something,e.g"please, lets go for a walk" you use please, right?the same thing is for the Greek language!we say:"σε παρακαλώ, πάμε μία βόλτα"("please, lets go for a walk")I think i helped you!
