I know the bulbs aren't really a huge deal.
But I am glad that Congress has educated us about conservation in the debate.
Probably by 2014, we will being buying CFLs 95% of the time because we are educated and dislike high bills. In that case, Congress will overturn the ban.
But if Congress gets so contentious over molehills, I don't trust them to solve big problems.
I'm just tired of politicians who seem petty to me like Poe does in this picture.

well the party is over, this lone wolf delusion stops at the environment, and this speech certainly doesnt root in the concern about freedom but rather in old energy lobbyism and the pseudo-christian idea that nature is made for us to rape, europe has regulations in place since quite some time and the numbers of smashed lightbulb mercury victims are "in control"..

I'm not sure that I actually said that mercury is "harmless". I said that it was "toxic".
The amount of mercury in a bulb may be RELATIVELY harmless. Relative to other risks, of course.
My emphasis on mercury being "natural" is that it is ALREADY in the environment and not man-made.
We cannot choose NOT to have the stuff around. We just move it from one place to another.

the new light bulbs do save a shit ton of power and last like 20 years the only problem with them is you cant smoke meth out of them so all you meth heads better call your congressman. I replaced all the lights in my house, and the whole house is about the power consumption of just one of the old bulbs...and no i dont smoke meth btw

I live in the Netherlands and at my place we use these lightbulbs. We use em more then 10 years now.
I got one in my bedroom and i am not afraid its going to break and i get gassed by mercury
gasses.
And btw we are putting them in the same box were the battery's go in.

I am glad you chose to change all of your lights. CFLs do save money. I have used them for many years. They don't cost very much when you consider how long they last. That is all great, but the US is supposed to have FREEDOM. Americans need their freedom. It is unfortunate that Congress even discussed banning somthing as simple as this. It almost makes me want to go back to using incandescents! If anyone should decide to stop incandescent lighting it should be the companies that make them.

This is a good video. Our country America is going down. No doubt about that. But let's think of how can we make it better. We all know that our country is ran by the elite, rich, influencial group of people. They are the companies, they are are our government officials. I'm sorry to point out that we as Americans failed to pick the right people to run our country. We make our mistakes over and over in every elections. The change should start from us.
