A short little something on my homemade cigar box guitar. I made the guitar a couple of weeks ago and am still kind of learning to play it.

It is tuned to Eb, Bb, Eb. A bit strange but that is what works well for the particular strings with a neck of that scale. It is pretty close to a bass as far as scale length. The strings are a 3,4 and 5 from an acoustic guitar set.

Im gonna have to build me one. Iv been colecting parts to build my own guitar. This should be fun to do while I wait. Not sure about three strings tho. I think ill just go with 4 and tune to D, G, B, E. to start with anyhow.

They are regular acoustic guitar strings (steel). I used the strings that would normally go on the 3rd, 4th and 5th strings of a regular guitar.

I made one of these a while back and mine sounds a lot like yours except I don't have frets... how did you know how to space them out and what did you use as frets?

It is a fretless. I simply drew on fret lines with a sharpy pen. I used an online fret calculator to figure out where to place them. Just do a google search to find one.

It does have a pick up in it (just a simple piezo disc soldered to a 1/4" jack) but this vid was all acoustic.
