Five stars based on ...( 9 months ago by PoopSquasher)
Five stars based on past glory. Otherwise... As much as I love the old MST3K days, this TITANIC project simply costs too much. A burned DVD in a sleeve for $15? Come on. I would consider paying $10-$12 for a pressed DVD in a substantial case with extras. I buy every PIXAR movie for about that much. I won't be buying this project at this price. I predict piracy will damage sales to the point at which Joel and company will throw in the towel early.

Pixar movies are ...( 9 months ago by Halsgoddess)
Pixar movies are mainstream films, so a million people will buy them, and prices will be lower. Cinematic Titanic is NOT mainstream. It's made for a niche fanbase, so you can't expect mainstream prices.

True Misties have been waiting for many years for a real movie riffing system. Rifftrax is great, but I truly miss the silhouettes, and real production values. How can you say 15$ is too much, thats crazy, thats about 4 gallons of gas. Rhino home video was charging around 25$ at one point for one episode of MST3k This is the only reunion we will get to see, so for all you haters just don't watch it or buy it. I for one will support in any way

Man, I am a rabid fan of MST3K and have spent more hours watching tapes of the show that I should ever admit. Favorite show ever. But I hate to say that each of these splinter groups has been something of a disappointment, however enjoyable. What I think is a shame is that the only reason the entire MST3K didn't wind up continuing in these new formats is because it wasn't the right time technically until now.
If you read ...( 9 months ago by digitalshark)
If you read interviews with them around the time the show ended they said essentially they wanted to continue on dvd etc but couldn't figure out how to make money on it. Now that Mike and Kevin figured it out, I just wish I could "rewind" and get them all together on one GREAT project instead of these lesser substitutes.

This may not be MST3K or even Rifftrax, but at least we have Joel,Trace,Frank;etc. back doing what they do best!Besides, you don't get the whole movie with Rifftrax, like you do with this,do you?? I'm just asking.I don't mind paying 15 dollars for a whole movie instead of just a few scenes.I mean, why not have a full meal instead of an appetizer, right??All I know is that I'm ecstatic that the original cast members are doing something similar to MST3K.Better than nothing at all!!!
Um, the Rifftrax ...( 9 months ago by ThomServeaux)
Um, the Rifftrax cost is lower because you're only buying the audio commentary. Because it is not physically added to the DVD, Mike & co. don't have to pay the exorbitant high movie rights that the studio execs demand, and can then pass along the savings to you the consumer...

@mrgb46 : Actually it was MST3K, not RiffTrax that edited the movies that they aired Like I said before, all RiffTrax does is create a commentary that gets played alongside the movie, but separately. They did this so that they could do any movie they want, as long as it's on DVD, and not have to pay those greedy smug studio execs their ridiculously high fees.
...and because they ...( 9 months ago by ThomServeaux)
...and because they didn't have the kind of budget that would allow them the luxury of doing a really bad new movie. THAT is the real reason behind the 'death' of MST3K...
I know you don't ...( 9 months ago by mrgb46)
I know you don't get the whole movie with Rifftrax.I was making the point that I'd rather have the whole movie as opposed to bits of it.Since we all know that MST3K will longer be coming back on the air(hate to think that, but it's true),I'll take whatever's out there that has the cast members.I never get tired of watching the old eps,but I enjoy the new stuff, even though they might not be up to par.I can live with that.

I bought my copy of this last night!! YAY!! I always found mike way funnier, but it's so nice to see trace and frank again! I found another new faction doing MST3K final season like riffing with a whole new storyline and characters called Incognito Cinema Warriors XP. I'm a hardcore mistie and I think this new group is awesome. they're on youtube and myspace and have a new DVD out and shipping is free. They have the first 30 MINS up too!

Finally more Joel, the more I watch the less I like mike (boo, he has the same sleazy quality as Craig Kilborn). He isn't at all as brilliant as Joel. Unfortunately for the mainstream who just don't understand true genius like Joel, who literally believe mike is better (whatever), Rifftracks is much better known than Cinematic Titanic. Rifftracks seems to be a money printing operation though.
