Rikki Jai is a Trinidadian chutney-soca artiste. He was born Samraj Jaimungal, the fifth child in an East Indian family of six in Friendship Village, San Fernando, Trinidad. Raised in the Hindu faith by a mother who spoke Hindi, Jai discovered a love of music and began performing with local Indian bands
Shawn Noel known to many as Da Ma$tamind, was born in Trinidad and Tobago, on August 10, 1983, He is well known to his Native land as a Soca/Calpyso Producer and composer, Having won several music awards from the Copyright Organization of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) including New Songwritter of the year 2005, Ragga Soca of the year 2005 for his work on Bunji Garlin's Warrior Cry, Groovy Soca of the year 2006 for Shurwayne Winchester's Don't Stop and Soca riddim of the year 2005 from the Soca Awards(SAO).
In 2004 he co-founded Mastamind Productions in Brookklyn New York, with Natasha Andrews-Noel, a full range music production company specialising music production in soca, calypso, and reggae. Since then Shawn Noel has produced and released 8 soca compilations, and has worked with well known artistes such as Collie Buddz, Shurwayne Winchester, Bunji Garlin, Salt (from Salt and Pepper), Maximus Dan,Talpree, Bomani, Crazy, Bud, Lyrikal, Kevon Carter, and Leon Coldero.
Shawn Noel and his company Mastamind Productions has been featured in articles in national newspapers such as The Trinidad Express, Trinidad Guardian, The Trinidad Newsday and entertainment magazines such as WE Magazine, Island Events and Trini jungle Juice . His music has been featured on VP Record's Soca Gold compilations and His music has won the International Soca Monarch and Groovy Soca Monarch titles in Trinidad and Guyana.
Shawn Noel is also the producer of the popular West Indian Soca Album Da Mastamind Project and the Soca Parang Album A Mastamind Christmas, his most recent release is Soca lovers, a compilation of groovy soca songs.
His sobriquet Da Ma$tamind was given to him by Bunji Garlin while he was a member of the Soca Band The Asylum, he has performed with Machel Montano HD, Shurwayne Winchester, Peter Ram, Rikki Jai, Iwer George, Red Rat, Da'Ville, Johnny King, Faye Ann Lyons, La Davina Pastora, Destra Garcia, and a host of others.
