Good for them. I was a sophomore in high school when this came out, and one of few white dudes who watched Soul Train every weekend. I remember this. Great song. I'm very open to all music. But...70s music is special because it was the first really unrestrained music before video (looks-image) became popular. I love it when young people are into 70s music. I'm not saying it's the best. I'm just saying---listen to it.

He came from a lot of funk and bluesy kind of sound. And his voice did have that soulful quality that wasn't typical in the artists of his day. Elton John is quite simply, the greatest musician to have ever lived!

"Knee high to a man" makes perfect sense. "Knee high to romance is gibberish."

Yes, I have it on CD and have listened to it hundreds of times. "Empty Sky" was a great enigmatic album. It was a developing album. A young Elton who would develop into the great star he became just a few short years later. It was "that voice," the same vocals I heard from the old "Bluesology" tracts. I've never seen or known anyone with a voice and accent like that. And even unto this very day, I've never known any musician who sounds as good as "that voice" does at the tender age of 60.

I went to see Elton John in concert last week...he sings for 2 hours and 40 minutes straight with no break, what an awesome singer...and when this song came on...wholly everyone jumped up lol to dance!! it was good...
