This song came out near the end of my freshman year in college. 4 of us took our record players up to the roof of the dorm and played this song all day nonstop as loud as we could get it. It was our last day on campus for that year.....great memory

This US version is the best! Who did the background vocals on this version besides the Animals? I know one of the backing vocals sound familiar, but I really don't know who stepped in to do backing vocals in the first place.

This was the song that we loved in the bush (jungle for you novices) in the Nam in the 60's...we all wanted out of that place..I was a grunt with the elite 1st Air Cav...and we all sang it whenever we heard it on AFVN...the infowizard in Sacramento California

I used to sing it a lot myself back in December, 1968, sitting up on top of Nui ba Den, counting the days to January 14th, 1969, the day I shipped out of the 'Nam to Ft Lewis, Washington to become a civilian once more.
