| I have to agree with some of the comments here...as some one who had the pleasure of growing up through the halcyon days of the late 70s SLF were the best "proper" punk band. The Pistols might have been the most important as they kicked the whole thing off, the Clash might have had the "intellectuals" getting excited about the art of their music and the political message but in terms of spirit and energy SLF were the best. |

| Stiff Little Fingers were sometime intellectuals in their own right. Give "Suspect Device" another listen. The line "they take away our freedom in the name of liberty" seems to have increasing relevance here in the US. And, as an aside, David Halperin, in his book "Saint Foucault" erroneously credits the line to the Sex Pistols who could never have written it. |
