Any thoughts?
great review!!!!
Squier turn out some good stuff with the Standard and Affinity's as they are, personally I would change the knobs, nut, possibly pickups too, but they aren't plywood or anything (I've played a plywood one - Ugh!!)but here in UK where everything seems twice as much because its imported, (£300=$350 UK prices in comparison to US)
u shud b able to speed pick on ANY guitar. i can to it easy on my strat. and is yngwie malmsteen not a good example?
but all in all i guess it depends wot ur into. i know im bored of deans. but jacksons still rock
you hook a strat to a W160+ amp with any distortion pedal that has gain emphasised its going to screach like hell...i know first hand...
the action is just way too low on the body, your hand has to go realy flat and uncomfortable to string mute and speed pick at the same time
also the bridge is just a bent piece of aluminium, no finesse...with time the glue and the screws give way and the thing starts to move about
then we put him on the other guitarist's Fender amp through a Zoom Distortion box and it still screached like a stabbed pig
then we gave him an Epiphone SG and it didnt squeel once
yes, i am a tune-o-matic bridge guy, it just feels more solid and the higher action is realy comfortable to pick
Great work you do man!
