Yep, it was. I think it was the last show of the tour, Montreal was the venue. Some nutcase kept shouting and screaming for Careful with tha t axe... But the band was playing Animals material at the time, so Waters spat on him.

Yeah! I also can't hardly believe it was 30 years ago!! I was very fortunate to have seen the Animals Tour at Montreal Olympic stadium July 6. It was the largest concert I had ever been to (80,000 fans strong) and was the final date. This band lineup never again did a major Northamerican tour after this one in 77;they only played in NYC and LA for the '80 Wall shows.
It was the best show I've seen by Pink Floyd.

Whit! I was twelve actually, when this was filmed, was probably into Status Quo at the time. Didn't get into Floyd till about the mid-80s, the vacuum period, between the Final Cut and Water's When the wind blows soundtrack. Just two years before the Floyd nearly burst my retina in Manchester 88.

I remember thinking ... ( 6 months ago by RVAuday)
I remember thinking, only Pink Floyd could make a rainbow appear from behind the stage.AWESOME concert, all kinds of "animal" sounds just barely audible, at first, then louder and louder till it started. Great sound, in true "QUAD"...
Disagree completely ... ( 6 months ago by RVAuday)
Disagree completely. From the lawn, the 360-degree rotating quad sound was AMAZING. The "Wish You Were Here" videos on the giant rotating round screen were mind-blowing; floating (and exploding) pigs, sheep, TV, refrigerator, Chief "Ed", the rainbows, what was not to like? Of course, the purple pyramid might have had something to do with it, but, definitely a once in a lifetime event, played in only a couple U.S. cities. The "Floyd" was on top of the world, those two nights in Anaheim...

Cool, went to all the same shows, that year, Tull-A-Vision (L.A. Colliseum ?), Floyd, Genesis, Yes (was it "in the round" ?)at all the same places. Still I loved the Pink Floyd Anaheim Stadium shows.

I think there were at least 2-3 other musicians on stage, including a guitarist/bass, saxophone, and possibly a percussionist. Also there were three female back-up singers.

You're right - In '77 they toured with Snowy White (guitar) and Dick Parry (sax), but that was it. No chicks.

I was there on the field that night. No opening bands. On a weeknight. 3 Massive PA stacks in each corner of the 3rd level of the stadium. No access up there. Quad system. It rained off and on all day hence the strange looking umbrellas visible at the beginning of the vid. Just before they came on at sunset, the rain stopped, the sun came out and a double rainbow appeard over the stage. They floated the pig right over my head and ingnited it when it got back to the side of the stage. Floyd Rules

I was there, too at Anaheim stadium that night. Do you remember how the sounds rolled like waves across the stands like thunder? Good times never to be forgotten and replaced...

I was a year old or shall I say almost 16 months old at the time of these shows. My mom (may she RIP) got me into PF's music when I was in diapers by playing DSotM to help me stop crying and go to sleep. No wonder I became a Floydfan. I saw the band (sans Waters) in May of 1994 and was one of four people who saw PF DRUG FREE that night (as I don't nor will I ever smoke, drink and do drugs but am a DIE HARD FLOYDIAN)
Bill, the indoor ... ( 3 months ago by atottduke1)
Bill, the indoor shows on the Animals tour had some intimacy whereas stadium shows in the 1970s were a party atmosphere in those days. The shows in Oakland and Boston in 1977 were superb as they were indoors and the audiences were well behaved but New York, Montreal, Cleveland and Chicago (from what I read) were rowdy.
