EZzy79 good point, and i would also tell the EU to go to HELL. Who are they to be imposing fines on foreign corporations? I swear europe every year becomes more and more totaliatarian. Especially with the UK's out of control surveillance with cameras on every street corner, and with some of these questionable hate speech laws.

This thing sound fishy. Maybe uncle bill wanted to give 1.4 billion to the U.N to work out their nwo agenda? that way the money trail for black up is blur.

I'm quite perplexed by some of the people posting here. Don't you understand what the original fines were for ? And that Microsoft is now paying for non-compliance with the original ruling ? The EU is doing what your own Department Of Justice (a running joke even in the US, known as the MS-DoJ), would not do. US companies that have been stifled and locked out of markets by Microsoft's anticompetitive practices benefit as much as EU companies do. Get a grip and learn to read you morons.

The courts ruling ... ( 8 months ago by CerebralGump)
The courts ruling doesn't fit into the nice sound bytes the media likes. Microsoft was found guilty of deliberately charging prohibitive fees and placing unfair restrictions on competitors in order for them to get the information they needed for their products to work properly with Windows (Windows does not play nice with the open standards everybody else uses). It is for anti-competitive practices Microsoft was fined for. And these current fines are for non-compliance with the original fines.

Of course. But conversely, the DoJ has also fined Microsoft in the past.

Why would ... ( 8 months ago by Lam1ngton)
Why would businesses want to run a mixed OS environment ? Why Windows systems might need file and print services through a Linux server ? Why would someone need to use a Linux server as a gateway ? Why would a Windows server need to provide the same functionality to Macs on the network ? Its called the real world, where people need to get real work done, and mixed environments are common for various reasons. Software is supposed to work for people, not obstruct their work. Get a clue.

We fined Microsoft because they didn't comply with our competition laws. And they couldn't afford to pull out, the European Union is a huge market.

Frankly i would be uber happy if M$ would pull out of Europe. Windows is full of bugs and viruses. Free software is the way to go. I do honestly hope the the EU Comission will ban microsoft from Europe. If you don't respect our laws, stay away from us.

Our companies do respect US laws. Microsoft sells its products in the EU because our market is huge. 500 million people, and the economy is larger than the US economy. Microsoft needs to respect our laws if it wants to sell its products here. And it does.
