He didn't love science (how can you preach a Theory as Truth and be scientific?) and he surely didn't give a damn about how the world would turn out.
Think about it: what do atheists have to lose if the world crashes and burns?
God (according to the Bible) put us in charge of taking care of the Earth.
If you don't believe this, you don't have a responsibility to care for it (i.e. you won't be held accountable for its demise after you die).

Why do you religious types feel the need to embarrass yourselves on issues like science? Are you so afraid that science will kill god, that you must always take an adversarial position to science? What is it that scares you so much? Fear of the truth? Fear of finding out your belief system is false? You reject theories based on facts and evidence, by questioning those facts and the evidence, yet you unquestionably embrace a theory that has neither.

I have great respect for Carl. He taught us all how to appreciate science in an understandable way. He was "the people's scientist." I highly recommend his series COSMOS and his novel "CONTACT"
He was very honest about the future of the human race and had great compassion about the development of human beings.

Your very words are contradictory. One does not worship science - one worships the gods. Science is meant to be analyzed and used, not naively praised; that's what religions is for. The divide between science and religion is that of the intelligent and the ignorant - you, my friend, are severely religious.
