Pizza Infinity's behind the scenes look at the nation's largest sketch comedy festival, The 2007 Chicago Sketchfest.
Emo Philips was at the Sketchfest and he was nice enough to let us bother him for a little while. You may know Emo from his standup or appearances on shows like Home Movies and Dr. Katz or the films UHF, The Aristocrats, etc.
We try to figure out how doing standup is like bullfighting...

The pair of twats that were interviewing Emo would do well to remember that. Fair enough he showed nothing resembling the skills that as a stand up we all know he had, but you guys should be ashamed of ur selves for trying to mock him the way you do. While in his pomp, Emo was practically a master of the paraprosdokian technique, and all u pricks can muster is some crappy joke about him being a bullshitter, ur not fit to lace his boots! pricks!

while i'm at it you pair of pricks, let me explain to you the metaphor he was trying to convey in regards to stand up being like bullfighting.
Emo would be the matador, the audience being the bull, meaning if he gets everything right, his lines, timing etc, then he looks and sounds great, but if he fucks up one delivery, the audience, the bull, are there to take him apart. You two really are a pair of pricks, can you drive??? WTF!

The thing about Christopher Guest is that he's a great character actor who got famous in comedy...he could have been a De Niro. He plays his characters straight, not funny...they just happen to be funny characters. Know what I mean?

Yes, but he does it like that on purpose because he knows people will laugh. I played a priest once for a comedy monolouge, but I had to play the part seriously for the character to be funny.
