hmm, i'm thinkig that SM & RTD are at a bit of an odds concerning who the doc is about certian things. cuz, as i noted b4, in the lib eps, he opens & closes the tardis w/a snap of his fingers. then in any other eps after that he has to open them w/the key. also cuz, since the doc stated long b4 the lib eps, he can't age/die, he regenerates. rose could spend the rest of her life w/him, but he couldn't do the same w/her. it'd hurt way 2 much 4 him. Really, I must have missed an eposide. I remember that Martha a had a "thing" for the Doctor so much that he made sure Donna did not have any similar feeling before he took her on board.

What Billie Piper said in Confidential (she put it beautifully) is that she equates it to Beauty and the Beast. When Belle kisses the Beast and the Beast becomes human, we are happy that he's human but we're also sad that we've lost the Beast. Billie thinks this may not be the end, or maybe she is the one who can't let go. Even David expressed his doubts. So there you go!!

The whole of the 3rd series was about Martha's unrequited love for the Doctor. RTD loooooves writing about unrequited love (says so himself). So: w/ 1st companion there's a love story, w/ 2nd companion these unrequited love, and for the 3rd companion they decided to go just for friendship, to avoid emotional overdrive. There's loads of radio interviews of David Tennant (some w/ Catherine Tate) on youtube where they talk about the characters.

His face at 9:09 just makes me bawl! To whoever it was that posted about why couldn't the Doctor have used the watch to help Donna. One: He no longer has the watch. Two: Donna's body is human--not time lord. the machine itself does not rewrite consciousness...that is why there is need for the watch. Still, I don't think we've seen the last of Donna.

Its a shame Rose and her family plus new Doctor couldn't stay on our Earth- they could of helped Torchwood/ Sarah Jane. But I guess rose wouldn't be able to accept D2 as the Doctor... its a bittersweet ending- I cried for D1 but in a way its a happy ending for Rose and D2. That's true love- I wonder who his next companion is going to be? I thought Donna was the Master because there was a ring on Master's finger and Donna wore a similar ring...

What a good ending, it rounded off all the series Russell T Davies has done nicely with rose, martha and donna and it stays true to the most important fact about the Doctor, that he is an alien and ultimately will always be alone as he is the last of his kind (besides the master, etc).
