nice sounding, i ususally find strats go a little over the top with treble and brightness when going thru an ac30 but not here. Its still bright but not shrill and ear piercing.

thanks! I definitely dont like the shrill highs either, so I compensate with the tone cut control, and I also had my strat wired so that the first tone knob controls the bridge pickup, which I always keep rolled back to about 7. It really helps alot.

I havent noticed any.. it shouldnt, all it is is taking a wire and resoldering it to another spot, no change in the tone at all

no, I didnt have the extra money for the AC30 with the blues in it, but I always thought itd be smarter to get a standard one, run the speakers into the dirt (as per usual), and replace them with blues anyway

I'm thinking of doing the same if i get this amp. My old amp had custom-designed celestions (eminience basically) so i assume the warfdales are just as good if not better?

Alot of people replace the output transformer and the reverb tank for better models. By 'alot of people' i mean all the old techs who own the ORIGINAL ac30s and have recently bought a Custom Classic.

Wharfedales are excellent speakers, but they don't sound like the Celestions. The Wharfe's do have a higher power handling (30w per speaker), so they don't break up as early or have quite the same chime as the Blues do.

Agreed.. the celestions are THE perfect Vox speaker. The heritage hand wired uses the blues, and they sound amazing. That being said though, the wharfes sound good enough that I didnt feel bad buying the less expensive ones. Although when these go, Im definitely getting blues.

Ted Weber (Weber Speakers) has a pretty good vintage voiced Blue clone. That's the route I'm going with my AC30.

it does, which is helpful because even though its two channels, it basically works as a single channel amp

and is there some sort of footswitch with thisd amp as i would like to go between the grittier and clean sounds however i think it only acts as ne channel which would kinda not work for me

this is the less expensive model without the celestion speakers. Even though its a two channel amp, it acts more as a single channel, in that you cant switch from one to the other (you can blend them, though). If you want something with channel switching, you'd be better off with the Vox Classic Plus
