I understand her position completely. I was in her shoes just a short while ago. Sandy, make sure you visit the Alt Expo tent at Porcfest for some alternatives to politics.

Oh man, I feel the exact same way as her! Even though I'm a voluntaryist I still planned on doing political activities when I move, but recently have had that same moral mental shift. So how do I follow my morals and not participate in the system, but stay out of prison? I'm having trouble sleeping over this very issue.

Sandy's been involved with the LP NH, a completely ineffective, highly dysfunctional group with virtually zero impact in the state government. So of course she sees only the down side of working within the system!
As an anarcocapitalist, I choose to engage the elected officials precisely because of the little victories like the defeat of the smoking ban. Unlike Sandy, I've been involved with dozens of victories -- typically at least one every week.

dmgoddard, as you know, in addition to being involved in the LPNH, I have been actively involved in *your* organization for years, reviewing bills, lobbying at the state house, making dozens of phone calls, etc. Way to shoot yourself in the foot!

The LPNH was effective at recruiting free staters to move here, and sometimes they generate some media attention. But I'm always leery of third party stuff that might shoo votes away from a decent major party candidate. Fortunately the LPNH doesn't do that in most state races.

Legislative lobbying is akin to licking the boots of your masters. I find it far more "effective" to talk directly to real people.

anarchism is anti-constitution. Limited government is so much different from no government at all...I don't see how that kind of ideological divide can be reconciled.
