but i look at it from a diff point of view as well.. how do cig companies make money? from ppl that buy them right? so if ppl die after one pack how do they make a profit.. cig companies have to make new ways of making the cig to kill you as slow as possible so they gain 100% of profit from u till the day u die... and i think thats just FUCKED UP

The problem is. They have known for years. How harmful smoking is. But it's not stopped many people from smoking. It's like people don't care if they live a full life. Or have it cut short short by a smoking related illness.

ilove how the australian govt is making thier quit smoking ads more graphic. i wish the canadian govt would do the same but more so protect teh people in the third world developing countries from smoking..a lot of these major companies have now moved there and are doing business there, say Pakistan or India.

That's right. I used to smoke, and I quit over 15 years ago. Now I exercise daily and eat right. But I promised myself I'd never become a "smoking Nazi". And I haven't. I have friends who smoke and I don't badger them about it, because I remember how good it felt to smoke. Let's put it this way: I've given up smoking, sweets, and I only drink water now and I exercise two hours a day. Quitting smoking was BY FAR the most difficult change for me.
It's tough to quit but these ads help a lot.

Sorry don't buy it. New research - they don't even truly understand the pathogenesis of cancer so how can they conclusively state that cigarete smoke affects a certain gene. I dunno - sounds like a stretch to me. How about a little more facts instead of insulting the audience with such a general statement.
