| Fugazi and minor threat were deffinitely not "emo". They were, however, emotional, yet when i say emotional i don't mean "i'm going to cut my wrists and black my eyes"...No. I mean emotional as in anger, joy, and other emotions. Even sadness, yet not translated into pathetic lyrics like songs from modern emo bands like Hawthorne Heights and From first to last. Also, they show a lot of lazy song writing. Emo has turned into a very shameful word thanks to many modern bands that we see these days. |

| dude, the term emo was around already in the 80's!!! if you knew your punk/hardcore history, you should know rites of spring started emo and thier fans back then stated calling them emocore, but guy(the vocalist of rites of spring who also plays guitar in fugazi) does not want to be labeled as such. embrace, another founding band of the emocore sound also had ian mackaye on vocals, who also came from hardcore punk legends minor threat. the two emo bands came from the dc scene back in late 80's |

| ahh punk philosophy. I love Fugazi and always have since I heard their first song and saw them live at the Cameo in Miami. I don't think they intended this pointles bickering over what punk is or what it should be labeled at any date...I think they solved that argument...like all great artists, by making their music. Are there words to describe what they are doing? Sounds corny I know but really Fugazi is pure, passionate and original, for the lack of a hip new punk rocker term its Beautiful! |

| lol. actually guys do YOUR reaserch. i do love fugazi, and although I personally dont concider them emo. they actually are credited in making emo music. emo started in the early 80's (apparently by fugazi), and was a slowed down hardcore stlye, with softer sounds, and not an in your face "fuck you" type of deal. later on in the 90's, artists like dunkin sheik, and other indi bands like that started being callled "emo". the emo bands of the 80's denounced the indi bands. ever since emo has sucked |
