It was the Orleans Levee Board's responsibility to oversee the levees. I don't believe Bush sat on the Orleans Levee Board before Katrina hit, but plenty of wasteful Democrats were on the board, misspending critical funds that could've been used to repair and reinforce the levees. Facts are stubborn things.
Search for "Is the Orleans Levee Board doing its job?" for a great NBC News exposé of this subject.

And here Slappy is again! Depending on the media for your information is like asking your neighbor for the weather forcast; he may be right, he may be wrong. Either way would you rely solely on him? Try levees dot org for links on how the national levee system works and the responsibilities of local Levee Boards. I'll give you a hint... NOLA isn't responsible for the repair & reinforcement of the levees, nor does it receieve the funds for such.

Excellent commentary! I was without electricity from the storm when this aired and have not seen it before. He tells it like it is and like it continues to be. My Katrina will not be over until this administration is out of power.

The Levees are in the control of the Army Corps of Engineers. That's the FACTS. It was the national government's job to secure NOLA.
