Bulgaria in EU: 1 January 2007
The flags of Bulgaria and the EU were officially raised Monday at a festive ceremony in front of the Unknown Soldier monument in Sofia.
Special guests at the ceremony were EU Parliament President Josep Borrell, Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn, and Geoffrey Van Orden, rapporteur for Bulgaria in the European Parliament.

Bulgaria is probably 3 times safer than any average American city and the Bulgarian cities are just as dangerous as any average bigger German city;) The Bulgarian sea side has been famous for years and there was one accident only with an Iraqi guy who had a Swedish citizenship.
