You need to install Chinese using the language options in the control panel in windows then you need to turn on several other options. It's best to find someone to help you because it's a bit complicated the first couple times.

They definitely need pinyin/tones in this. It's no wonder a lot of Chinese cannot understand those who spend a lot of time learning the language--especially if they don't know anything about the tones-- which can mean the difference of saying scold, mother, horse, and hemp.
