Here is a video I made of my top 8 favorite John Petrucci guitar solos (all from Dream Theater songs). Please don't leave me comments like "Petrucci sucks", or "OmG wtf!1! Why din't you put "song title" in this video omfg!1!". I like so many solos I couldn't put them all, so please, just enjoy what I put in. Also, don't cry over the pictures please, its better than looking at a black screen for 10 minutes.

yeah dude live in budokan that solo made me cry! That was the solo that convinced me that in my opinion he is greater than any other rock guitarists out there!

Nothing off of Octavarium OR Systematic Chaos is DT's best anything. But the rest are good solos. Also, end of Repentance solo reminds me of Opeth solos.

My favorite albums by them are SFAM followed CLOSELY by Octavarium. The ending solo to Octavarium sends chills down my spine every single time I hear. It's cool to know there are people who still like the same band without liking the same exact material I like though.

To decide what, that DT's stuff is getting worse or that nothing off of Octavarium or Systematic Chaos is their best anything? Both are pretty blatant. You really can't listen to Images and then Systematic and say they haven't gotten worse. I love them to death, but they really need to look at what they were doing 10, 15 years ago.

their new materials are pretty kickass too actually. i really like constant motion despite the fact that it's really similar to a metallica song. it's all about petrucci and rudess's solo in that song. kirk hammett couldn't even follow half of the awesomeness of the solo in constant motion. except, i do agree that their new stuff isn't AS good as their older ones.

Cz838: I beg to differ, because in my opinion the solo from in the presence part 2 (off systematic chaos) is as fucking kickass as anything dream theater and john petrucci have ever done, which means it pretty fucking kickass and mind-blowingly brilliant.

Ospif1, you complain about Systematic Chaos and think something from Train of Thought is better? Don't get me wrong, it's a decent album but it's just not their style.
