Often thought this could be a song that is the story of an alcoholic. A singing 10 step thing, mournful admission of rationalizing/justifying irrational behavior to a power greater then, which restores sanity/soul. After sung by UB 40 Neil adds a verse, Red Red Wine makes me feel so good even if the words aren't understood, Red Red wine... maybe party on UB 40's version until find hard to stop, then switch to Neil's original in recovery. :)

Yeah 'most successful' sounds like a bit of a stretch to me, plus all of their singles were covers. Besides, record sales don't mean shit, I mean surely Christina Aguilera has sold more records than Sublime, for instance, but that doesn't make her music any better.

Over 3 decades they r still going strong playing sell out gigs all over the world, covers are not so poular these days, in the 50's and 60's white folk covered black music and in jamacia they always have done that. Jus cos ur hatin dont take away their fame.

Jesus I don't mean to insult anyone but you should try reading a book and exercise reading comprehension and maybe even your spelling. I mean english isn't my first language and I seem to spell it better than you do.
Sublime was a band in the 1990's, short lived but they made good music anyway, if you like reggae you might like them.
I never said ub40 weren't successful, I only said that record sales don't mean anything in terms of musicianship. And One in Ten wasn't their first single, btw.

Never knew this was Neil Diamond. Never did like the UB40 version but the Jimmy James & The Vagabonds version I like the best, has SOUL. There is also an older reggae version by Tony Tribe which I havent heard yet
