Try with the volume turned down ;-). That was Luke, bless 'im - he was happy playing in the sitting room, until I went charging downstairs in my exceitement shouting for the camera. Oops.

Hee hee... I did actually just mute the video. It was just startling at first, I wasn't sure what the sound was! Interesting cloud - did it turn out to be a tornado? Or just a weird finger of cloud.. I hear you mention you don't see rotation..

There was anti-clockwise rotation there, at twice speed you can actually see it very clearly. I've not seen any reports on the local news about it, but I'm aiming to find locals living in the area where it occurred and see if they had any damage. We had several tornadoes/funnels reported over the weekend.
It's a shame that YouTube compresses the video so much, my footage of both the funnel and the rotation previous to it is much clearer.

I agree on the video compression.. it is too bad! Are you located in the UK? I don't want to assume that, but if so - it's interesting, I had no idea until I started watching videos on YouTube that the UK even got tornadoes, let alone how many occur! I guess just like everywhere, you only hear about the giant ones in the US. I live in Canada, we get our fair share too.

Yes, I live in England. Torro is an interesting organisation that show something of the storms we get here. I actually have a book, 'Under The Whirlwind', about a Tornado event in Canada. Whereabouts in Canada are you? I guess you're either awake late, or very early? ;-).

Ah yes, it'd be 3:20am here right now! I live in Calgary, Alberta. Canada's most disastrous tornado event was the 1986 F4 Edmonton Tornado. Edmonton is 300km north of Calgary. The only other F4 was in Barrie, Ontario. There has never been a tornado in the city of Calgary at all.. that's ok with me. We just get baseball sized hail.

I just sent you a playlist with videos (I didn't take any, I was too busy being terrified) from a storm we had this past June 5th.. we get these occasionally, but this one was exceptionally bad. Still lots of damage visible today.

Almost positive that isn't a funnel cloud.. There is no wall cloud anywhere to be seen no rotation and the clouds look too weak to even spawn a tornado in the first place nice try but this is just a pointy cloud formation looking as if a funnel cloud.

Hello, if you download the clip, and play it at twice speed (or more), there is infact clear anti-cyclonic rotation. I have a much-more high-res clip which is available if needed where everything is clearer. The same applies to the rotating thunderstorm that was shot a short while earlier.
