The CARS Bye Bye Love

Uploaded by: danostamper714
Video Description:
The CARS were a Great American New Wave Rock and Roll band from 1976 until 1988 they also had two fine lead singers in rhythm guitarist Ric Ocasek & bassist Benjamin Orr. Greg Hawkes , Elliot Easton, and Dave Robinson made up the rest of the band.
Blondie may have had a string of number one hits and Talking Heads may have won the hearts of the critics, but the Cars were the most successful American new wave band to emerge in the late '70s. With their sleek, mechanical pop/rock, the band racked up a string of platinum albums and Top 40 singles that made them one of the most popular American rock & roll bands of the late '70s and early '80s.
Sadly Benjamin Orr the lead singer in this song died from Pancreatic Cancer in 2000 at just 53 years old this is also the same type of deadly cancer that my mother is currently dying from and this is a tribute to both my dear mother and Benjamin Orr.

Cars w/o Rick and Ben? It's not The Cars then, is it!
Kind of like The Stones w/o Mick & Keith or Squeeze w/o Lavis & Tilbrook.

Arkady6, I agree! It was an "album" in the true sense, when albums where cohesive units and meant to be played from start to finish, first song to last. Stevie Wonder's albums were the same, Yes and Genesis as well, and The Cars proved that it was truly an art to the magic of making a real LP.

If not for this band (and a few others) I wouldn't be a musician. Being 10 in 1978 when this came out and the following years; those early Cars albums shaped me.

I find it incredible that the crowd is not on fire at the end of this song. An well-written original like this, performed by a group of incredibly talented musicians deserves much more than just polite clapping. This generation is really missing out not having bands like The Cars.

lol - he sings "it's just a broken LULLABY", not "Alibi"! but we use to replace the word "Broken" with something else.(so did Ben sometimes). We were Cars freaks, and I have personally seen them over 50 times - maybe not the Greatest band ever, but Definitely my favorite. RIP Ben, We miss you.

Their music is timeless. It was a throw back to the 50's but during the glam 70's/80's. Great pop music, catchy and makes you feel good.

I love the cars ...I am younger then all you oldy guys who are doin that yesterdays gone trip...but I gotta say that shot of the crowd at the very end.. those guys look like they are clapping for a space shuttle launch ..they look so out of place with the style that was just presented on stage...I thought everyone dressed in new wave fashions back then

Let me educate you- The crowd was German.
They behaved a little different.
The music was better than today's music.
