Can you name anyone else in America who went from stripping, to being a best selling author, to winning an Academy Award.
That's kind of an original story? No? As in--it's never happened before, ever.
But, they are stories that are exclusive to America--they are stories that can only happen in America, hence the term, "American original."
Her writing, is very much about modern American culture, particularly how it relates to sexuality.
Also, she's from America! What was I gonna' call her? A Hungarian original?
:}
and ellen page was totally right about her... so cool and majestic... ^_^

Going from copy writer to stripper to Academy Award ilk doesn't make you unique; it makes you a face in a crowd of wanna-be rebels just pretending to be genuine.
Speaking of movies, "Juno" sucked. Just b/c a screenplay is chock full of witty statements, it doesn't mean it's great. Nice try, "Diablo". Nice try.
Juno was good and brilliant not because of its wit but because of its pathos and its handling of a difficult subject material. Now if you've got a preternatural hatred for hipsters, you're entitled to it but that screenplay was damn good. This woman is damn talented. And you're damn well entitled to shut the fuck up.
You are entitled to go on pretending you don't know people like this. And you at least pretend to know what you are talking about, so I'll just say it: there is a difference between a hipster and a poser. Shocking the public and keeping their attention fixed on something is not the same as having something meaningful to say.
Think about it.
PS - at least I didn't resort to expletives.
